Robert has published a total of four books that feature his photography, research, editing and writing skills.

Billboard Art, (Chronicle Books) is a study of the uniquely American over-sized advertising medium that reached its zenith in California in the 60’s and 70’s with exuberant entertainment industry ads that lined L.A.’s Sunset Strip. Robert’s photos capture the surreal relationship of these gigantic signposts to the urban environment. World renowned artist, David Hockney adds a foreword to the book.

Outrageous L.A. (Chronicle Books) is a portfolio of approximately 100 photographs of Los Angeles that capture the energy and spirit of Southern California’s colorful popular culture. It is a tribute to the people, places, flora and fauna that make up this special city. Artist Ed Ruscha provides the foreword here. Robert’s collaborations with co-authors have resulted in two other books;

Hollywood Poolside
(Angel City Press), an historical examination of the mythic power of photography to create and sell celebrity, and

, (Peregrine Smith Books) a look into the world of an American sub-culture based around a metallic motor home.
